History of Gimnazija Be\u017eigrad<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Gimnazija Be\u017eigrad was established in 1936, when two boys\u2019 high schools merged and moved to their present location in the Be\u017eigrad district of Ljubljana. Since 1947, the school has been coeducational, and today it enrols more girls than boys. <\/p>

Over the years, the school\u2019s name has changed in response to educational reforms. It was initially known as I. Gimnazija Be\u017eigrad<\/em>, later renamed the Mathematics and Sciences Secondary School<\/em>, and eventually returned to its current name, Gimnazija Be\u017eigrad<\/em>. <\/p>

Gimnazija Be\u017eigrad is a public secondary school offering the \u201cGimnazija\u201d program, which prepares students for university education. The vast majority of its graduates continue their studies at universities. <\/p>

In September 1990, the school introduced the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP), initially admitting a group of twenty Slovenian students. Since then, the programme has welcomed a new group of students each year, selected from secondary schools across Slovenia. <\/p>

In 1993, Gimnazija Be\u017eigrad began admitting international students into its two IB programmes: the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students in Grades 9 and 10, and the Diploma Programme (DP) for students in Grades 11 and 12.<\/p>

Today, Gimnazija Be\u017eigrad combines a proud tradition with a forward-looking approach to education, preparing students to succeed in a global society.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The International Baccalaureate\u00ae aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.<\/p>

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.<\/p>

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
