Working with gifted students

At Gimnazija Bežigrad, we have been successfully developing and expanding our work with gifted students for decades. At Gimnazija Bežigrad, we have been successfully developing and expanding our work with gifted students for decades.

Students can participate in:

research projects,
numerous academic competitions (science, languages, social sciences),
artistic and cultural activities (theatre, literature, music, dance),
sports activities,
volunteer work.

They also have the opportunity to earn international language certificates (DSD, FCE/CAE, DELF) and participate in field trips, camps, and other enrichment programs.

European Network for the Gifted

Since 2016, we have held the title of European Point for the Gifted and are part of a broader European network supporting gifted students. In this regard, we pay special attention to developing the potential of all students, regardless of formally recognized giftedness.

We believe that every young person should have the opportunity to develop their areas of strength, as this significantly contributes to their self-confidence and holistic development.

Activities and Achievements

We offer students numerous clubs and activities led by experienced mentors, who also guide them in preparing for competitions.

In the 2024/25 school year:

hundreds of students participated in 73 extracurricular clubs and competition preparation programs,
students won numerous silver and gold awards at the national level,
and achieved outstanding results at international Olympiads (mathematics, physics, astronomy, linguistics, biology, economics).

Athletic Excellence

Athletic achievements also play a significant role in our success. Our students regularly rank among the best in national competitions, and many also compete successfully at the international level.

In doing so, they demonstrate that it is possible to successfully combine academic excellence with top-level athletic achievements.
